Advice from two of us published in Chicken Soup.
Because I’ve been lucky enough to have my stories published in Chicken Soup for the Soul a number of times, other writers often ask my how to write for them. It takes more than a formula. Linda O’Connell is another frequent flyer with Chicken Soup and gives some great advice here.
One thing I’d like to add and cannot over-emphasize is the importance of emotion in your story. Whether you felt some aspect of joy or sadness during the incident you describe, you must be brave and share the inner emotion with your readers. Doing that not only increases your chances of making a connection–writing from your heart adds the uniqueness that is you. That may sound corny to some, but who can deny that it’s true?
