Writing Fiction vs Nonfiction
You’ve probably heard that it’s easier to publish nonfiction than fiction. From my experience, that is true. I find that discouraging since I like to write and want to continue publishing both fiction and nonfiction.
But fiction has something nonfiction doesn’t: endurance.
Nonfiction can quickly become dated, but universal themes in fiction are ageless. Novels written over 100 years ago are still sold and read today. I don’t expect to live that long, but it’s nice to know that my fiction can have a “shelf life” that lasts decades while I’m still here.
That another good reason to write fiction that you like. It may not be the hot trend today, but it will be waiting it the wings when that trend comes around again.
